Trip to Letohrad

The Orlice Fortress
The Orlice Fortress is located on the eastern outskirts of the town of Letohrad right by the pond. The seat was probably founded at the end of the 13th century, and in the 16th century the fortress was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau. After moving the nobility from Orlice in 1650 to the Kyšperský Chateau, the object was adapted for economic purposes. By the end of the 20th century, the garages were added to the fortress area, and the fortress decayed for 40 years. In 2008, the Orlice fortress was purchased by the company Eywan s.r.o., which then began work to rebuild the entire site.
The historical building with precious preserved building parts from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicist period is a cultural monument. On the tour you will see a functional historical typography workshop, unique wall paintings or exposition of stuffed animals. The fortress visitor can choose from four circuits or join them in one tour. First Route A - Historic rooms and cellars with collections of weapons, hunting trophies, tinware and a historic kitchen. Beneath the glass floors are walls of the original fortress. The second route B will surprise you with the beautiful areas of the second and third floors of the fortress. The third is route C "The Magic Forest - Fauna of the Czech Republic", where you can see 120 stuffed animals in natural scenery. The sound and lighting effects animate the exhibits. The fourth route D includes archaeological finds during the construction of the Orlice Fortress and other interesting exhibits.
In addition to interesting routes, the place also offers a restaurant and a medieval tavern.

More than 40 complete exhibitions of crafts and trades can be seen in the museum of crafts, mainly from the period 1840-1930. Its exhibition area is the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. Technical inventions changed over decades the crafts that were passed from generation to generation in the past. The Museum of Crafts will bring you closer the times when people had to rely on their own skills and materials from their immediate surroundings.
You can find information about individual exhibits here.
